Fantastic Fourth Grade Flash
Dear Parents,
We have some exciting news! We will no longer be using the Student Success cards for your children. We will communicate with you via emails, phone calls and your child's planner/agenda. Please make sure to look in their planner on a daily basis to help them stay organized with their homework and extra curricular activities.
Math- We are pumped to be starting division this week! Students will use multiplication and relate it back to division with fact families. Please continue to practice your math facts at home. Studies find that the more fluent students are with their facts, the better they become with their problem solving!
Writing- We are polishing our first Expository piece as we conference with peers and our teachers. We are learning to Praise, Question and Polish. We find something Positive that we like while we are revising, we ask Questions about things that are unclear, and we Polish something that needs to be improved for next time.
Science- On Thursday we will have our unit test on Electricity and Circuits. We have learned all about open and closed circuits as well as started to understand the basics on parallel and series circuits. Friday we will start our next unit on Force, Matter, Energy and Motion.
Social Studies- We are completing our brochures on the various Native American Tribes that lived in Texas. Next we will begin to learn all about some of the European explorers that reached our great state.
What we are learning...
Reading- We are acting out all sorts of dramas and focusing on character traits. Please continue to have your children read nonfiction texts one night of their four a week for their reading log. Help them to remember that their responses must be on that nonfiction literature that they are reading.Math- We are pumped to be starting division this week!
